HARRISBURG – The Redevelopment Authority of Bucks County (RDA) has received a $300,000 Blight Remediation Program grant for the Shenandoah Woods Blight Remediation project in Warminster Township, Rep. Meghan Schroeder (R-Bucks) announced.
“I’ve been adamant about restoring this piece of land and revitalizing the area to return this to a safe, clean and protected open space for our community,” Schroeder said. “Unfortunately, this land has been left abandoned and continually vandalized, and I am thrilled this project will move forward.”
Funds granted will be used to acquire the land of an abandoned naval housing unit and transform it into a public park and open space. The space is now occupied by175 vacant properties on 51 acres in Warminster Township. As part of the project, RDA will purchase the land and remove the deserted housing units and clean the area.
The Blight Remediation Program was created under the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The funds of this program are aimed to revitalize Pennsylvania communities by remediating and removing blighted properties through grants.
